Hi, I introduce myself, my name is Mar.
I am a digital artist from Argentina focused on anime fantasy illustration.
I’ve been drawing since I can remember. I watched a lot of cartoons on TV at the time, from animes like Inuyasha, to Looney tunes, Hey Arnold, to Disney movies or Dreamworks. I think all this led to my love of drawing growing and expanding even to other aspects such as 2d animation, film and photography.
When I was in high school I found out online what digital drawing was and what careers I could apply to bring all those branches together. Unfortunately in my country such careers existed, but they were and are even now very expensive. Then I decided on the one hand to embark on a self-taught path and at the same time to find a career in my city that would somehow approach what I was looking for. At that time I found graphic design in Malharro, a school of visual arts, which certainly touched in some ways these themes by adding others as well, and I could annex it with subjects of photographs, and of audiovisual media that other careers in the same establishment were given.
I was graduating in 2018 and at the same time had started a freelancer path that I follow until today. Since then I have been working on creating and designing characters, illustrating novels, comics and so on depending on what the client’s project requires.
My referents could say that they are encompassing different areas, authors and techniques: Ghibli (Hayao Miyazaki), Rumiko Takashashi, Emmanuel Lubezki, Makoto Shinkai, Clamp, Disney (Treasure Planet, Atlantis, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Mulan), Dreamworks (Sinbad, El Dorado, Spirit), Guillermo del Toro among many others.
I can say that I’m a curious person about all this, currently learning more about concept art and what 2d animation is. In some future I would like to be able to participate in project as well. I am open to experiencing new things of drawing and so on.
