Crajes is the artistic name of Jessica Ruiz and Carla Redón, two visual artists and activists based in Barcelona. Self-taught in the world of illustration, they abandoned their university studies in Psychology and Philosophy to fully dedicate themselves to artistic creation. Their journey began with the creation of experimental animated short films, such as Amok, which allowed them to explore visual storytelling and participate in international festivals.
Their style is characterized by a fusion of influences from pop surrealism and Japanese art, primarily using ink to create thought-provoking images. Through their work, they address themes such as the empowerment of women, animal liberation, and the denunciation of social injustices, always seeking to provoke deep reflection in the viewer.
In addition to their artistic career, Jessica and Carla are activists committed to social and environmental causes. Through their platform Reinas y Repollos, they promote veganism and social activism, sharing vegan recipes and awareness messages. In 2022, they published their first book, No matarás, and continue to develop projects that combine art and activism.
Their work has been exhibited in various galleries and events, including:
-
Atticus Gallery (Barcelona, 2010): Exhibition titled Doom Generation, where they presented a fantastic and absorbing world, using ink and influenced by Japanese style. (luisan.net)
